The EBS Business School is the oldest private business university in Germany and accommodates an average of 1,200 students. A demanding academic education is pleasantly complemented by the picturesque backdrop of the historic campus with its castle and palace.
The redesign of the library posed a particular challenge: A functional shelving system needed to not only accommodate over 35,000 pieces of media, but also reflect the architectural character of the grand Bauhaus building. A perfect task for SCHULTE Lagertechnik. SCHULTE Lagertechnik installed single and double rack rows with over 2,000 shelves in the bolted system (BASIC70 and MULTIplus150) in order to integrate the shelves into the room concept with a pitched roof.
Thanks to two tricks, a visual highlight was achieved: The shelves are plastic-powder-coated in black, with galvanized hexagonal screws deliberately standing out optically and lending the shelves a touch of "Bauhaus style". The result? A classically modern environment that fulfils all requirements for the storage of monographs, doctoral theses, manuals, scripts and working papers. The shelves have stop bars or centre stops to hold the books back. In addition, a specially made set of book hangers facilitates the handling of literature.
